“Ryan Kochberg’s new music video for Hong Kong-born, British-based singer Liz Wong’s single ‘Rooted’ is a paean to mental health, magical realism and artistic resurrection.”

“... The impressive music video debut from London Film School graduate Kochberg was shot with 50 home security cameras hidden in the walls of a modernist mansion last December.

The low-fi black and white images capture LCDS contemporary dancer Carys Belle cavorting within the rooms of the house in a progressively more violent and self-destructive fashion, juxtaposed with Wong’s voice belting out existentialist lines worthy of PJ Harvey (‘Every path I’ve walked alone / Beaten up by sticks and stones / I’m the one I loathe’).

Meanwhile, Belle’s knees bounce off of terrazzo floors, sending her body colliding into hard, pointed, virtually anti-human furniture. All of that before she scrambles upstairs and submerges herself in a bath full of roots and vines, where the protagonist is saved by a mysterious white light that seems to emanate from Wong…”
